2024 Scholarship Application

2024 Application Information

Applications are being accepted for the 2024 Rain City Flyers scholarship. The scholarship is funded by the generous donations of RCF families and friends. To date we have awarded over $32,500 in scholarship support.

Additional details about the scholarship and past recipients can be accessed at: Rain City Flyers Scholarship.

The 2024 scholarship(s) will be awarded to an applicant (or applicants if the scholarship committee determines appropriate) who most embodies the purposes for which the scholarship was established. The applicant should be a high school senior, graduating in 2024 who plans to continue their education. The scholarship recipient must have participated in the Rain City Flyers program at some time and demonstrated a commitment to working to achieve their best, both as an individual and as a member of the team. In addition, the recipient will be a recognized role model of an exemplary and responsible citizen/athlete.

The amount expected to be awarded for scholarships in 2024 is $4,000, to possibly be increased depending on available funds. In the discretion of the scholarship committee the scholarship may be split between multiple applicants. If no suitable graduating high school seniors apply, consideration may be given to current college students otherwise meeting the scholarship criteria.

To apply for the scholarship, applicants should submit:

  1. An application cover letter and resume providing name and contact information; details of their RCF participation; significant accomplishments or recognition beyond RCF for academic, artistic, athletic and/or community activities; post high school plans, including athletic, if any; other relevant activities for consideration.
  2. An essay of not more than two pages that tells the applicant’s Rain City story. The Scholarship Committee is interested in what participation in Rain City Flyers meant to the applicant, how it contributed to the applicant’s scholastic and extracurricular experiences, and how it might support future educational and life goals.

Applications should be submitted to:

Scholarship Committee Rain City Flyers
7051 17th Avenue NE
Seattle WA 98115

Applications may also be submitted electronically in pdf format to scholarship@raincityflyers.org. The deadline for receipt of applications is June 1, 2024.

Questions about the application process may be directed to scholarship@raincityflyers.org.

Applications will be considered as they are received, with the scholarship(s) to be awarded not later than June 15, 2024. The Scholarship Committee encourages all qualified seniors to apply regardless of lack of current RCF or school sports participation. We recognize that interests and talents can lead to participation in activities other than sports.

Additionally, SAVE-the-DATE: June 19, 2024, from 7:30 to 9:00. The Scholarship Committee asks all applicants to reserve the above date on their calendars to attend the RCF Scholarship Award Presentation event. This event at the Nathan Hale High School track is an opportunity to celebrate the scholarship recipients and for current RCF athletes and their families to hear from scholarship applicants about their RCF stories. Additional details will follow.
